Few days back, ASUS India announced another budget Zenfone, the ASUS Zenfone Go. The Zenfone Go is pretty good budget device with impressive specs similar to the competition. The device will be the cheapest Zenfone available right now in India and comes with 5 inch HD (1280 X 720p) IPS display, sporting a pixel density of 294ppi. The phone is powered by 1.3 GHz MediaTek MT6580 Quad Core Processor with 2GB RAM.

There is also 8GB of Internal storage which is expandable to 64GB via micro SD card. Here is the unboxing and first impressions of the device.

Design wise the phone is similar to the Zenfone 5 which was launched last year and it comes with a curved rear panel. The front panel has the three capacitive buttons and a pattern below it. There is 5.0 inch HD display, front camera and the usual set of sensors. The rear panel come with a black matte finish. The build quality looks solid, but the device has weight on the higher side. The power button and the volume keys are on the right side unlike the Zenfone 2 which was on top and rear panel. The rear panel houses the 8MP camera and LED flash along with ASUS branding and speaker unit located at the bottom.

The 3.5mm audio jack is at the top while the micro USB charging slot is at the bottom. Overall, while the built quality is good, there isn’t anything refreshing about the design.

The phone comes with a 5.0 inch HD display with a resolution of 1280 X 720p and 294ppi. The display looks pretty good and the touch response is also decent. The colors are vivid and overall it looks pretty sharp as well. There is also Corning Gorilla Glass protection on the phone. The phone comes with dual SIM card and has 3G support. The phone also comes with 8GB internal storage which is expandable via micro SD card. The storage available in the first boot is around 3.63GB. Unlike the Zenfone 2, the Zenfone Go comes with a removable battery.

In the initial usage, the performance was decent and we did not encounter any lags. It is powered by the 1.3 GHz Mediatek Quad Core processor with 2GB of RAM. This is probably the first time ASUS is using Mediatek chipset for the Zenfones. The software is Android 5.1 Lollipop with custom Zen UI which offers lots of features and customization options. The phone packs an 8MP camera with LED flash and the quality looks decent. We will have the detailed review of the camera soon. There is also a front-facing camera. The phone also comes with 2070mAh battery.
