Transfer Photos from Android to Windows 10 using Photos Companion App

Most of us backup photos and videos from our Android smartphone to Windows PC as and when the storage is running out on the Android phone. Some users also take a backup of photos and videos at a regular interval. The traditional way of transferring photos and videos to Windows from Android is using the USB Cable, but with the Photos Companion app from Microsoft Garage Project, you can easily transfer photos from Android to Windows 10 by just scanning a QR code.

The app is available in the Play store and you can download using the link provided below. To make this work, you need to enable preview option in the photos app. You can do this from the settings menu in Photos app in Windows 10.

Transfer Photos from Android to Windows 10

Once you have enabled it, restart the Photos app and you can see an option “From Mobile over Wi-Fi” when you click the import button in Photos.

Transfer Photos from Android to Windows 10

This will open a QR code to import wirelessly. Now all you need is to open the Photos companion app on your Android phone and point it to the QR code.

Transfer Photos from Android to Windows 10

In the final step, you need to select all the photos and videos you need to transfer from your Android phone to Windows 10 and click next. You also need to make sure that phone and PC are connected to the same Wi-Fi network. The app will only work if both the devices are connected to same Wi-Fi network.

This will start the transfer process and it is pretty quick to transfer files. The downside of the app is that you need to scan a QR code everytime you want to transfer files and you need to be on the same Wi-Fi network.

The ESRB Defends Loot Boxes in Video Games

After months of controversy surrounding loot boxes, the Entertainment Software Rating Board (ESRB) has finally broached the subject. However, the ESRB, which assigns age ratings to video games in the U.S., Canada, and Mexico, is defending the use of loot boxes. Loot boxes, AKA loot crates, have been a thing for a while now. They’re essentially sealed virtual boxes gamers can open to reveal the goodies inside. Sometimes loot boxes are awarded as prizes, but sometimes gamers have to purchase them. And that’s problematic. 3 Financial Questions Every Entrepreneur Should Ask Themselves

In startups, money is your lifeblood. That’s why it’s usually top of mind for every entrepreneur, and not for the reasons you’re probably thinking of. Instead they’re worrying about whether they’ll have enough cash for that next big marketing campaign. Or if they’ll be able to pay their employees each month.

Before they reach that pot of gold at the end, every entrepreneur typically spends years scraping the bottom of the barrel. The best way to keep your money in check is to ask the right questions.

Here are three financial questions every entrepreneur should ask themselves.

When should we raise capital?

The vast majority of wildly successful companies had to raise a substantial amount of capital in order to scale. So the big question then becomes, when is the right time to go out and raise it?

This largely depends on the nature of your business and the stage you’re in. Take the company RxBar for example. This energy bar company was started in 2013 by two founders. In 2017, they were acquired by Kellogg’s for a whopping $600 million. How much money did they raise from outside investors? Zero.

The point here is that you don’t need to raise capital to build a million dollar business. However, an energy bar business is different than say, a space exploration company like SpaceX. Sure those are extreme examples, but the point is you need to carefully evaluate your current needs and others in your industry. Determine what you need the funds for, and if it can be accomplished by bootstrapping with your co-founders.

Will I be able to generate cash from customers right away?

Depending on your business, it’s common to give away products for free in hopes that cash will come in later. Another common business model is to build an audience by offering a free service, then monetizing that traffic with advertisements. Regardless which one you fall into, you’ll be spending some time without earning any cash from your customers.

Every company needs to know when they’ll be generating cash flow from their customers. Whether it’s through ads or product sales, it’s an extremely important metric. Any investor will likely ask you how much it costs to acquire a customer, and how much that customer is worth to your business. If you don’t have the answers to both of those questions, you’ll likely walk out of that meeting empty handed.

Are we using the right financial tools?

In this day and age we have technology to improve just about every aspect of our lives, and more importantly our businesses. This is especially true when it comes to your finances.

Regardless the size of your startup I highly recommend using some form of digital accounting software. These platforms offer products like online invoicing and expense management which make bookkeeping a breeze. Take a look at this list of the top payments companies and see if one of them fits your needs.

Financially fluent or not, every entrepreneur needs to be on top of their money. Until you’re big enough to afford a full-time CFO or finance department you need to handle the books yourself. To stay on top of your game, make sure you’ve asked yourself these three financial questions.

How to Record Screencasts on Android with YouTube

Here’s a step by step guide on how to create screencasts on your Android phone via the YouTube app. Standalone screencasting apps may offer more features but with YT Gaming, the big benefit is that you can even live stream your phone on to YouTube with a tap. The app is free and there are no ads. Let’s get started.

One the next screen, select an Android App that you’d like to stream. YT Gaming will show a list of apps that fit in the ‘gaming’ category but can you click the ‘All Apps’ link to screencast any app that’s installed on your Android phone.

The recorder will stream everything you do while the session is on including incoming notifications and the text you type in input boxes. Also, it will record the audio from the speaker as well as surrounding sound though you do get an option to mute the microphone. The front camera can be turned off as well.

After you are done recording, swipe down the notification drawer and tap to stop the session. You can now perform basic video editing before uploading the video to YouTube. That’s it. Your screencast video is now ready to share with the world.
