Nokia made a comeback to the smartphone market with the launch of Nokia 3, Nokia 5 and Nokia 6 earlier this year. The company also announced the flagship device, the Nokia 8 in India. Today, the company announced its first budget smartphone for the global market, the Nokia 2. 1. Design and Build:
The design and build quality have been one of the important aspects Nokia has looked into in their recent launches. All the smartphones launched came with a really good build and also looked good. The Nokia 2 is no exception, its sleek frame is precision-machined from a single block of aluminum and has polycarbonate finish on the rear panel. It also comes with a stylish form factor in the budget segment.
2. Display:
Nokia 2 sports a 5 inch LTPS LCD HD (1280 X720P) and is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 3. While HD display is quite common in this segment, most of the phones skip on the display protection and quality. Nokia 2 provides a good overall display at an affordable price segment.
3. Stock Android:
One of the issues with budget Android smartphones is that most of the OEMs provide out-dated software and also lack of new updates. Nokia is addressing both these problems with Nokia 2. Nokia 2 runs on stock Android and the company will be providing updates for the device.
4. Massive Battery:
Nokia 2 packs a 4100mAh battery and the company is promising 2-day battery life on this device. While the battery capacity is large for a budget smartphone (we also have Redmi 4 with similar capacity), we need to test it to actually confirm how good the performance is. But on paper, it definitely looks good.
Nokia 2 is priced 99 Euros and as of now the Indian price is not yet announced, but we expect it to be around INR 7500. It should be available in the second half of November 2017.

While I love freelancing, I have issues with the business model. Issues that, quite frankly, have been plaguing me for at least 18 months – the fact that it’s difficult to budget on inconsistent income. As such, part of my mission this year has been to find better ways to create recurring business revenue.
Before I get into what I have discovered, I first want to say that freelancing has been the foundation for what I’m about to share. If it wasn’t for the fact that I’ve been blogging and freelancing for years, I wouldn’t be able to create the recurring business revenue I have now.
That being said, don’t throw the baby out with the bathwater because freelancing still has it’s place. My goal is simply to get you to start thinking about what comes next after freelancing.
Have freelance contracts on retainer.
The first step to creating recurring business revenue as a freelancer is to put as many contracts as possible on retainer. For example, I’ve had one client that I can rely on receiving $X every month for years.
The upside is you know you’ll receive guaranteed money so long as you deliver. The downside is you still have to pitch constantly. It’s also sometimes difficult to get a hold of editors or clients so this is assuming your points of contact are responsive. While it’s certainly an upgrade, you’re still on the hamster wheel.
Start consulting on retainer.
My favorite way of creating recurring business revenue as a freelancer is to start consulting. This year, I stopped offering small three-month consulting packages for $X. Instead, I started getting six to 12-month contracts for $X per month.
The best part is since this is a deeply customized offering, it comes at a very high price point. With just two retainer consulting clients my business expenses are completely covered. This also makes it way easier for me to budget.
Granted, it takes a while to upsell someone to this kind of an offering. This brings me to one of my other favorite ways to create recurring business revenue…
Create a scalable high-end product.
Earlier this year, I launched my first group coaching program. This is a hybrid consulting/on-demand product that sells for nearly $2,000 a person.
Since creating this, it’s become easier to create recurring business revenue. If I sell just a couple of these a month (which is not hard), then I can better budget.
This product also plays a role in my overall sales funnel. Out of all the students who take this group course, I can count on a percentage of them becoming high-end retainer clients.
Have a lower price point offering that supplies recurring revenue.
The last step in creating recurring business revenue is to offer lower price point offerings that still get you paid each month. I’ve started to incorporate into my business in two ways:
Affiliate marketing for subscription products. Many of my coaching clients need schedulers and email marketing services. I recommend products, they subscribe and I make a commission each month.
A membership site. Individuals who cannot yet afford my higher price-point offerings can join my membership site for a monthly fee.
Final Thoughts
While freelancing is a great start, eventually you’ll have to find other ways to earn recurring business revenue. In doing so, it will become much easier to manage your finances.

10.or (pronounced as Tenor) is a new brand in India and the company launched the first device, the 10.or E in India couple of months back. Later the company announced their second device in the sub 15k INR pricing, the 10.or G. It packs good hardware and the first device in India with Snapdragon 626 chipset and is coupled with either 3GB or 4GB of RAM. so how does the device fare in this price segment? Let’s find out in the detailed 10.or G review.

Design and Build:
In terms of design, 10.or G does not offer anything new and it looks very similar to the Lenovo K8 Note in terms of design language. The phone comes with a dual camera set up on the rear panel and a dual LED flash alongside it. The fingerprint scanner is placed below it and you also see the 10.or branding at the bottom. The front panel houses the 5.5 inches Full HD display, front 16MP camera and front flash. Below the display, you can see large bezels as the navigational buttons are on screen. The left side houses the SIM and micro SD card slot. The power and volume keys are on the right side. The micro USB charging slot and the speaker unit are located on the bottom while the 3.5mm audio jack sits on the top panel.
The antenna bands are on the rear panel and they blend into the design. The build quality is very good with a sturdy build with metal unibody construction. 10.or could have done a bit more in terms of the looks, but since it is a budget offering, we don’t have much to complain as well.
Display:
10.or G comes with 5.5 inch Full HD IPS LCD panel with 1080p resolution. The display also has a 2.5D curved glass along with Corning Gorilla glass protection included. The display is crisp, sharp and offers good colors and also good viewing angles. The sunlight readability is adequate and you won’t have any issues using the device outdoors. The touch response is also good.
The addition of a display protection is something which most of the OEMs skip in this price segment. Overall, the display on the 10.or G is good.
Software:
10.or G runs on Android 7.1.2 out of the box with stock UI. There aren’t any third party apps or customizations. Since the UI is stock, you get the default settings in the UI, so there are no options like dual apps or themes in the device. 10.or is also promising upgrade to Android O and also security updates which is indeed a good move.
The notification center and quick toggles are exactly as in stock UI. Since the phone has stock Android, there is no bloatware included other than the few Amazon apps which cannot be uninstalled. The phone also comes with split-screen multitasking and Google assistant.
Performance:
The 10.or G is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 626 chipset and is the first device with 626 in India and the SD626 is an upgraded variant of the popular SD625. In day to day tasks, the10,.or G was extremely responsive and performed tasks without any issues. Even if you push harder with multiple apps opened in the background it performed pretty well, but the RAM management also was very good on the device.
The gaming performance of the device was also smooth and we tested the performance with heavy graphics-rich games like Asphalt 8 and N.O.V.A 3 and the overall performance was smooth and there was hardly any issues. The phone did get a bit warm with extended gaming, but the maximum temperature was just 44 degrees.
The phone supports dual SIM cards with 4G LTE and VoLTE. There is also a hybrid SD card in case you want to expand the storage. The phone has 32GB and 64GB storage options. The speaker performance was quite good and loud enough. The call quality was also good and we didn’t see any issues.
The fingerprint scanner on the device is located on the rear panel and does a really good job in unlocking the device. It is fast and responsive in unlocking the device.
Camera:
10.or G packs a dual camera set up, which is quite similar to a lot of other smartphones we have seen off late. It comes with a dual 13MP rear camera with dual LED flash and front facing 16MP camera for selfies. The phone has a decent camera interface with the usual modes and options. But there is no manual mode included in the phone. It can also record videos in Full HD resolution.
Looking at the samples taken with the phone, this is one area where the 10.or G was an average performance. The daylight captures were slightly washed out in colors and sharpness levels are pretty average. The overall clarity of the photos was not as good as what K8 Note, Mi A1 or Honor 6X offered. The low light performance was also not that great with noise in the low light images. The dual camera with bokeh mode was again inconsistent and was not a great overall performer. The 16MP selfie camera did a better job than the rear camera and the photos looked much better in the color quality. Here are some of the samples taken with the phone.
Battery Life:
10.or G packs a massive 4000mAh battery similar to Redmi Note 4 and Lenovo K8 Note. As the device is powered by one of the most efficient chipsets, the performance is really good. You can easily get more than 1.5 days of battery life on an average even if you are a heavy user. If you are a person looking for great battery life, then 10.or G should be on your list.
Verdict:
10.or G is a good offering in the sub 15k INR price segment with stock Android, promised updates, good performance and great battery life offered at a good price. But the camera on the 10.or G was probably the disappointing aspect. The 10.or G is definitely a good device to considering if you are not worried too much about the camera performance.
