MIUI 11 Breathing Light and Ambient Display

When MIUI 11 was announced, Xiaomi mentioned a lot of new features which included dark mode, video wallpapers, new file manager, calculator and more. One of the new features in MIUI 11 is breathing light and ambient display. But these two features are limited to phones with MIUI 11 and having AMOLED displays which includes phones like Redmi K20 Pro and Redmi K20. So what exactly is MIUI 11 Breathing light and how to customize the ambient display on MIUI 11.

MIUI 11 Breathing Light

MIUI 11 Breathing Light:

Breathing Light is a notification feature similar to edge lighting on Samsung phones or Horizon light on OnePlus 7 devices. Whenever you get a notification on your phone (with AMOLED display), the edges of the device light up and giving you the notification. With MIUI 11, you can enable this feature.

There are three breathing light options- Rhythm, Pulse and starlight. You can choose any from the list and apply. This will enable breathing light on your phone.

Customize Ambient Display:

In the same settings, you can see ambient display customizations. Select the option and you can see different themes for your ambient light. You can even have custom backgrounds or use custom texts to customize the ambient display. You can also enable what all notifications you want to see on the ambient display. Enabling ambient display will increase the battery consumption and so is the case with breathing light as well.

Both these features are available only on AMOLED displays, so this wont work on Redmi Note 7 Pro or Redmi Note 7 or even the Note 8 series. This works well on Redmi K20 series and the premium devices from Xiaomi.
