Motorola DROID Turbo 2 and DROID Maxx 2 Goes Official, First Smartphone with Shatterproof Display

Motorola has announced two new devices the Motorola DROID Turbo 2 and DROID Maxx 2. While the Moto DROID Turbo 2 is a flagship device, the DROID Maxx 2 is a mid range phone. The DROID Turbo 2 comes with a 5.4-inch (1440×2560 pixels) Quad HD AMOLED display with 540 ppi  and also the first smartphone with shatterproof display and comes protected with Moto Shattershield.

The phone is powered by 2.0 GHz Octa-Core Snapdragon 810 processor with Adreno 430 GPU and coupled with 3GB RAM.

The DROID Turbo 2 features 32/64GB internal memory, expandable memory up to 2TB with microSD. The phone runs on Android 5.1.1 (Lollipop) and is upgradable to Android 6.0 (Marshmallow). On the imaging front, the phone has 21MP rear camera with dual-tone LED flash, f/2.0 aperture, 4K video recording and a 5MP front camera for selfies and video calls.

On the connectivity front, it has 4G LTE / 3G, 802.11a/b/g/n/ac 2.4 GHz + 5 GHz with MIMO, Bluetooth 4.1 LE, GPS, GLONASS and NFC. There is also 3760mAh battery with Turbo charging, PMA and Qi wireless charging.

Droid Maxx 2

The DROID Maxx 2 on the other hand comes with a 5.5-inch (1920 x 1080 pixels) Full HD display with Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection and it is powered by Octa-Core Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 64-bit processor with Adreno 405 GPU, the same processor which powers the Moto X Play. The phone comes with 2GB of RAM and 16GB internal storage which is expandable memory up to 128GB with microSD.

On the software side, the phone runs Android 5.1.1 (Lollipop), upgradable to Android 6.0 (Marshmallow). The device also comes with 21MP rear camera with dual-tone LED flash and 5MP front-facing camera. There is also 4G LTE / 3G, WiFi 802.11a/g/b/n (dual band), Bluetooth 4.0 and GPS. It packs a 3630mAh battery as well.

Both new DRIODs will be available online and in stores starting Oct. 29. The DRIOD Turbo 2 will be $26 per month for 24 months ($624 retail price) or $30 per month for 24 months ($720 retail price) with design refresh. And the DRIOD Maxx 2 will be $16 per month for 24 months ($384 retail price).
