Nokia made a comeback to the smartphone market with the launch of Nokia 3, Nokia 5 and Nokia 6 earlier this year. The company also announced the flagship device, the Nokia 8 in India. Today, the company announced its first budget smartphone for the global market, the Nokia 2. The Nokia 2 sports a 5 inch HD display and is powered by Snapdragon 212 processor with 1GB of RAM and 8GB of storage. It runs on latest version of Android and has stock UI out of the box. While the specs of the device do not look great for a 99 Euro smartphone, here are 4 good aspects to look for in the device.
1. Design and Build:
The design and build quality have been one of the important aspects Nokia has looked into in their recent launches. All the smartphones launched came with a really good build and also looked good. The Nokia 2 is no exception, its sleek frame is precision-machined from a single block of aluminum and has polycarbonate finish on the rear panel. It also comes with a stylish form factor in the budget segment.
2. Display:
Nokia 2 sports a 5 inch LTPS LCD HD (1280 X720P) and is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 3. While HD display is quite common in this segment, most of the phones skip on the display protection and quality. Nokia 2 provides a good overall display at an affordable price segment.
3. Stock Android:
One of the issues with budget Android smartphones is that most of the OEMs provide out-dated software and also lack of new updates. Nokia is addressing both these problems with Nokia 2. Nokia 2 runs on stock Android and the company will be providing updates for the device.
4. Massive Battery:
Nokia 2 packs a 4100mAh battery and the company is promising 2-day battery life on this device. While the battery capacity is large for a budget smartphone (we also have Redmi 4 with similar capacity), we need to test it to actually confirm how good the performance is. But on paper, it definitely looks good.
Nokia 2 is priced 99 Euros and as of now the Indian price is not yet announced, but we expect it to be around INR 7500. It should be available in the second half of November 2017.
