Microsoft Lumia 535 Unboxing and First Impressions

Early this month Microsoft announced Lumia 535, a mid range device running Windows Phone 8.1. This is the first phone under the Microsoft branding after the company took over Nokia. Microsoft Lumia 535 comes with a 5 inch IPS LCD display which has qHD resolution (960 X540) with 220 pixels per inch. The device is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 200 processor clocked at 1.2Ghz, the same processor powering the Lumia 530, Karbonn Titanium Wind and also Micromax Canvas W121. The phone comes with 1GB RAM and 8GB internal storage which is expandable via microSD card.

The phone also comes with 5MP rear camera with LED flash and 5MP front camera with wide angle lens for selfies. The phone also packs 1905mAh battery and runs Windows Phone 8.1 with Denim update. The phone is priced Rs 9199 in India.

Design wise, there isn’t much of a change when it comes with Lumia 535 and it follows the same design principles of Lumia 525 with curved back panel. The device comes with glossy finish rear panel and this is the same for all colors. The power and volume buttons are on the right side and there is 3.5mm audio jack and micro USB charging slot at top and bottom respectively. The device comes with Ambient light sensor, Accelerometer and Proximity sensor.

Similar to Lumia 730, the phone does not have capacitive touch buttons, but instead they are on screen and has option to be minimized similar to Lumia 730. You can also change the colors of navigational buttons. The rear panel has a glossy finish and houses the 5MP rear camera and flash. On the front, you have the 5 inch display which looks pretty decent with respect to resolution although ideally we would have liked the HD display. Above the display is the wide angle lens and the Microsoft branding.

The phone comes with 8GB internal storage and out of which 3.71GB is available in the first boot. You can also expand the storage via microSD card upto 128GB. At 140gms, Lumia 535 is not the lightest of devices although the thickness is at acceptable level. The phone comes pre-loaded with Lumia Camera and Lumia Selfie apps.

Overall, the device looks pretty good and feels great in hands. The performance also look good in the first boot. We will have the detailed review coming up on our blog soon, meanwhile do check out our YouTube channel for more videos on this device.
