ASUS Zenfone 5 Lite (A502CG) Unboxing and First Impressions

Back in July, ASUS has announced Zenfone 4, 5 and 6 in India and created a huge buzz as these phones were competitively priced and they performed well. We have already done the detailed review of Zenfone 4, Zenfone 4 (A40CG), Zenfone 5 and also Zenfone 6. Early this month ASUS announced a new Lite version of Zenfone 5 in Philippines and now they launched this version in India as well. The Zenfone 5 Lite is a stripped down variant of Zenfone 5 and comes with a 5 inch qHD display (960 X 540) compared to HD on the original Zenfone 5.

Apart from this, the phone also comes with 1.2Ghz Intel Atom Dual core processor (Z2520) when compared to 1.6Ghz Intel Atom Z2560 on Zenfone 5. While the battery capacity has been increased to 2500mAh, the RAM is now 1GB, down from 2GB on the Zenfone 5. The phone also comes with 8MP rear camera and a 0.3MP front camera. The phone comes with Android 4.4 KitKat out of the box.

Design wise the Zenfone 5 Lite is exactly similar to Zenfone 5 and it is very difficult to identify. The phone has the same fit and finish of the Zenfone 5 and has great build quality. The device is heavier and thicker probably because of the bigger battery included in this. It comes with all the set of sensors including G-Sensor, E-Compass, Proximity, Light Sensor and Hall Sensor. The device comes with a qHD display, but overall looks pretty good and the touch response is really good.

The power and volume buttons are on the right side, 3.5mm Audio jack sits on the top and the micro USB charging slot is at the bottom. The rear panel has matte finish and feels solid. The phone comes with the same 8MP rear camera with LED flash and the camera has the PixelMaster settings. The front camera is cut down to 0.3MP from the 2MP in Zenfone 5.

The phone comes with 8GB internal storage and out of which 4.4GB is available in the first boot. You can also expand the storage via microSD card. The phone is powered by Android KitKat with Zen UI and it is exactly the same UI found on Zenfone 5.

The phone has dual SIM card support and both the slots are micro SIM. The battery capacity has been increased to 2500mAh and it is again non-removable.
